Happy Halloween!

Have a Happy Halloween tonight, everyone! Here's the seizure-inducing, creepy Silver Shamrock Masks Halloween commercial from Halloween III, the odd movie out of the Halloween franchise that did not feature Michael Myers, but which I always thought was a damn fine movie nonetheless. If you've seen the film you know what happens when this commercial plays on TVs on Halloween night.

The No Doves Facebook community has been a bit busier than this website lately; see you there!

Next 1313 San Antonio deathrock night will be November 12!

DJs Ely Bat and Detra Munster have just announced the next 1313 deathrock/post-punk/gothic rock night at San Antonio's Thirsty Camel, for Saturday, November 12, 2011. No cover, like before. I (Oliver) went to the October 15 night and it was great. I hope to make it back down to SATX to go to this, too.

What's THIS For...!

WHY NO DOVES?
by Oliver

The first prowlings of deathrock came in the early '80s before we were labeled as our other counterparts – the gothic movement. There were no Goths. The Deathrockers were splintered off from the punk/hardcore scene that was going on at the time. We played punk rock but we loved Halloween and we looked like vampires. So the phrase "death rock" was born.

Here's the how and why of "No Doves Fly Here":

It's pretty simple: It's a monthly way for folks into dark postpunk, deathrock, and gothic rock to listen to music they like, have a few drinks, chill out, get weird and/or spooky, and most of all, have fun.
