We've got at least three here, in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston, respectively.
In San Antonio, on Saturday, December 10 at the Thirsty Camel, DJs Ely Malediction and Detra Munster are again bringing you 1313!
On Sunday, December 4, Kris Prudhomme is organizing "The Catacombs: A night of Deathrock and Goth." The Facebook event/RSVP page is here. It's from 9:30 PM to 2 AM at Dean's in Houston, at 316 Main St, Houston, TX 77002 featuring DJ Hex and DJ Franki Fiend and live bands, Freakouts and Comatose and Half Retarded.
And, as always, the third Wednesday of every month, No Doves Fly Here, featuring DJ Damage Done and potentially a guest DJ this month (stay tuned), will be free, in Austin at Chain Drive, 21 and up, from 10 PM until 2 AM, playing raw deathrock, goth-punk, and dark postpunk.

No Doves Fly Here - December 21, 2011
The next No Doves Fly Here event night will be on December 21, 2011. As always, it's the third Wednesday of the month. In other news, DJs Malediction and Detra Munster have announced the next 1313 Deathrock/Postpunk/Goth Rock night at the Thirsty Camel in San Antonio for Saturday, December 10, 2011.
Interview with DJ Johnny Bubonic
Except for John Peel, DJs have had close to zero influence on the sort of music I like. Except for DJ Johnny Bubonic, that is, who DJ'd for several years the weekly(!) deathrock night in Dallas, Texas, that was Funeral Drive. This was at Spiderbabies (RIP), a uniquely deathrock-centric venue that lasted about 4 years in Deep Ellum. Bubonic and company provided a strategic response to the deluge of electronic-centered music that eventually won the war in Big D by way of the main establishment club in Dallas, The Church (Lizard Lounge), which mostly shoved aside deathrock and postpunk to play EBM, IDM, and techno-flavored "goth," a trend that continues to this day. Bubonic's posts (setlists and assorted rants) on deathrock.com and elsewhere had a big influence on my own ideas about music, and introduced me to many great bands that remain favorites to this day.
But I'll let him speak for himself. After the interview is a sample playlist from Funeral Drive from February, 2002, as well as a piece Bubonic wrote for Starvox. (Interviewed by Oliver in November, 2011.)

No Doves Fly Here interviews CIRIL!
NO DOVES FLY HERE: Hey Darrin, the first question I usually ask a band is, "What does your name mean"? However, your band's name has an interesting story behind it. The premise behind Ciril is that all the releases go together as, in effect, concept albums, because the songs are about how an imaginary youth, whose name is Ciril, comes to see the world as he grows up. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.) How did you come up with the Ciril narrative concept?
DARRIN JEFFERY HALL: You are totally correct about the concept of an imaginary youth, but it's ironic how the character is not so imaginary. No matter how I try to write about imaginary characters, it always turns out to be about me and my struggles through life as a result of a fucked up, abusive childhood and how it affects me through my adult life. It's sort of like crying out a caterwaul with the hope someone will hear my trauma and relate and give me a cry back, telling me I'm not the only one, and share with me how to get through life with such a weight on our souls. Reaching out to others for help in life, and getting a response, has helped me a great deal. Being in a band and recording music has been the best cleansing tool. I am truly grateful I have been able to accomplish such a powerful medicine for the soul. It's such a relief when i communicate with others with similar issues.

About the No Doves CD sampler, Vol. 1
Just to get this out there, here's the tracklist and a link to a PDF copy of the insert we passed out at the first No Doves Fly Here event on October 19, 2011. With the exception of Part 1, all the bands on the sampler are current, running deathrock bands. (And even Part 1 have said they've gotten back together and are playing rehearsals.)

2. CHRIST VS WARHOL – “Cross of Lorraine” (4:31)
3. LOST TRIBE –“Gunk” (2:46)
4. LOST TRIBE – “Fading into the Fog” (4:11)
5. CEMETERY – “Grave Dance” (3:11)

8. ALARIC – “Animal” (4:16)
9. PART 1 – “Black Mass” (3:28)
10. PART 1 – “Marching Orders (unreleased) (2:50)
The No Doves Fly Here Vol. 2 CD was due to be passed out on the second, November 16, event night -- but due to, er, shall we say "technical difficulties," this did not happen. We're planning on getting this out at the next No Doves Fly Here on December 21, 2011. The track list includes more contemporary bands, including Blue Cross, Ciril, Burnt Cross, Dystopian Society, and another unreleased Part 1 track.
One of the things that we have done in all instances is secure a band's permission to use their songs. We're not just making random mix CDs without the bands' permission. It's important to us to build a relationship with the artists whose music we are using. In fact, our interview with Christ vs Warhol is here.
The PDF file of the paper insert we included with the first No Doves Fly Here CD sampler can be downloaded here.

See you tonight at Chain Drive! 10PM!
Tonight, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 -- it's No Doves Fly Here in Austin. Free. 21 and up. 10 PM - 2 AM, as always.
***EDIT: Hey everyone! We're doing a donation drive for the brand new City of Austin Animal Center, scheduled to open tomorrow 11/12. we'll have a drop-off box at chain drive, and if you can bring anything from the attached donation list, we'll collect it all and bring it to them! even if you don't have animals, you probably have a few of the things on the list lying around - like blankets and newspaper. the animal center is awesome, my younger dog came from there, and by donating to them, your goodwill trickles down to all the other rescues and shelters in the area, as most of the animals they shelter started out their adoptive life at the Austin Animal Center. we hope to see you al next wednesday, and if you can, go through your drawers and find an old blanket or pick up a can of dog food while you're at the supermarket next. every little bit helps! =) thanks! No Doves interview with Christ Vs Warhol!
Christ vs Warhol have only one LP to their name so far -- Dissent -- but it's garnered tons of positive reviews. In large part a continuation of Scarlet's Remains, a band that Drop Dead Magazine in 2005 enthusiastically said "have been called the 45 Grave of the new millennium," Christ vs Warhol features the stand-out vocals of Eve Ghost, the deft guitar of Steven James, and the precision-perfect rhythm section of Marzia Rangel on bass and Geoff Bruce on drums. They have a Facebook page here, and a MySpace profile here.
Along with Fangs on Fur, Ciril, and Alaric, the band are part of an exciting new resurgence in California deathrock. They have the guitar-driven postpunk sound of Scream-era Siouxsie, Rubella Ballet, or Lost Cherrees. Christ vs Warhol donated two songs for us to use on our No Doves free sampler CD that we gave away on our debut on October 19, and Eve Ghost and Steven were kind enough to be interviewed by myself (Oliver) in early November, 2011.
Interview below the cut.

Dressed to the Nines on Friday, November 4 in Austin
Hey all -- Oliver (DJ Death Church) here. This Friday, November 4, in Austin, Texas, Elysium will host the "Dressed to the Nines Gothic Dress-Up Ball," which will feature No Doves' own DJ Damage Done!
The ball's being arranged by Mary and Cassandra at Secret Oktober, two people that have been great friends and supporters of No Doves Fly Here. I know there's a lot going on in Austin this weekend -- The Damned will be at Fun Fun Fun fest on their 35th Anniversary Tour, Peter Murphy will be playing, and the Zero Boys are also doing a reunion show in town -- but if you can make the time, Dressed to the Nines should be fun.
